Strategic Resource Management

In fall 2013, Chancellor Woodson charged Provost Arden and VC Leffler with exploring the most promising resource generation, cost-cutting and reallocation options available to ensure that NC State can keep moving forward with its strategic plan. Throughout the fall, ideas were gathered through meetings with various on-campus constituencies and leadership groups as well as via an online form.

A small working group, led by Duane Larick, senior vice provost for academic strategy and resource management, and Ginger Burks, director of cost analysis, convened to vet the nearly 200 ideas generated through campus engagement. The working group then spent several months culling, grouping and prioritizing ideas by degree of impact and timeliness.

A first set of recommendations, considered critical to establishing the foundation for resource allocation decisions, was submitted to and approved by the chancellor in May 2014 and implementation teams were assembled over the summer and are working on this first set of recommendations now. An update will be shared in early 2015 with campus. Read more about the Strategic Resource Management initiative.
